The Botswana elephant hunting where you will hunt is a wild community reserve north of the . It is located near the Chobe National Park in the Madabe Depression. You will hunt an exclusive area 60×28 miles (About 1,000,000 acres with 40% of this area being photographic) in size. The big old bulls know this area and return.

Namibia elephant hunt
The best time to hunt here is in the fall when the area is April and May. However, hunts are successful all the way to late summer. Buffalo hunts can be added to any elephant hunt. Buffalo hunting in this area is best in June and July.
All hunts here are free range with expectations of some of Africa’s largest mature bull elephants. Your lodging will be in a scenic tented camp with a fantastic camp chef.
ALL meat from the animals hunted is distributed to the surrounding villages.

Accommodations & Meals
Our camps are of the finest, typical East African style tents all with en suite bathrooms. Twenty-four hour power is provided by solar systems with back up generators for those overcast days. Complimentary wifi is available, laundry done daily and the catering is without a doubt of the highest standard available in Africa.
Hunting
This outfitters conservation mindset and community support set him apart from the rest. When you hunt with John and his team, age is important. What do we mean by this? You are hunting old elephant and cape buffalo. All hunts are proper spot and stalk hunts with safety being a key ingredient. When you hunt these species, you want to be hunting with a professional hunter that reads the animals body language. He will know when to move and when not to move. Your skilled PH will position you for safety and success.
The Mababe Depression is known for outstanding dangerous game hunting and in particular for big tuskers and dagga boy cape buffalo. Elephant hunts are addicting here and it is not uncommon for hunters to return year after year.
It is not uncommon to see as many as 30-50 bulls in a day! Expectation is for a mature animal with tusks over 70 pounds. In this area, a 102 pounder was taken recently. This is where the mature elephant roam.
Length of Stay / Itinerary
Elephant hunts are 15 nights/14 full days of hunting.
Buffalo hunts are either 8 or 11 night hunts…your choice.

Fly into Maun, Botswana and take a scenic helicopter to camp.
The camp is in the Mababe Depression.
Changing Generations
All meat from the animals hunted is distributed to the surrounding villages. A project is underway and plans have been drawn and approved for the building of a hostel in Livayi village for the school children. This hostel will have separate dormitories and ablutions for boys and girls. Currently the children sleep in grass huts with no facilities. Funding for this project has started and we have several contributions but we have a long way to go.

If your trip is more than 90 days out from date of departure, a 50% non-refundable deposit confirms your reservation and must be received within 10 days of booking to confirm your dates. All trips must be paid in full at least 90 days prior to the departure date. If your trip date is within 90 days, FULL payment for the trip is required. All payments to Family Expeditions are non-refundable. Should you need to reschedule or cancel your trip, we will do everything in our power to assist you in finding a suitable substitute or transferring your dates per the lodge/providers/government requirements.
