Accommodations & Meals
Think modern Texas lodge: a soaring great room and welcoming bar for gathering, private suites and casitas for quiet rest, and an additional Bunk House & Game Room so larger parties never feel crowded. Outside, an infinity-edge pool and swim spa overlook the prairie; a firepit invites stargazing and stories. A dedicated clay range is close by for warm-ups and friendly competitions. The working greenhouse and gardens supply the kitchen and add a “fresh from here” rhythm you’ll taste at every meal.
Dining
The culinary program is a highlight. Early duck mornings start with from-scratch breads, pastries and coffee. Post-hunt brunch features hearty ranch classics such as scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, quiche, fresh fruit, biscuits & gravy and more. Evenings are relaxed but refined—thoughtful courses, excellent ingredients, and pairings from a well-stocked bar and wine list. Private tastings, outdoor chef stations, and celebratory dinners are easy to arrange. Dietary needs are handled with care so everyone can enjoy the table together.
Fishing
Freshwater—right out the back door. Between the lodge lake, peaceful waterways, and long stretches of riverfront, you can fish without ever leaving the property. It’s perfect for a quick cast after brunch or a golden-hour session—straightforward, relaxing, and ideal for a mixed group that wants easy time together outdoors.
Saltwater—Matagorda made simple. When the bays call, licensed captains are ready for East and West Matagorda. Half-day or full-day trips target speckled trout, redfish, and flounder with all tackle provided. Wade fishing is available for those who want to get in the water; boat fishing keeps things comfortable for everyone else. In season, night flounder-gigging can be added for a classic Texas experience. The guides are experienced and the equipment and boats are top notch.
How we organize it. Tell us who’s fishing and who’s hunting and we’ll knit the schedule together—morning ducks into an afternoon bay bite, or a full day on the water when tides and weather set up. Freshwater on property is grab-and-go; bay trips include gear. We’ll walk you through licenses and easy prep so the day stays focused on fun.
Hunting
Waterfowl—built for success. Managed wetlands, flooded fields, and timber edges sit right in the Gulf flyway, giving you a real shot at early-season teal and mixed-bag duck hunts as conditions line up. Guides handle scouting, blinds, dogs, and decoys so you can focus on the fun parts—good calling, safe shooting, and enjoying time together. Expect clean, well-run mornings with steady action and flexibility to move with wind and weather.
Upland—keep the momentum. After brunch, many groups add an afternoon of walk-up preserves or a driven-style tower shoot for pheasant, chukar, and quail. It’s a low-pressure way to include different skill levels and keep non-hunters engaged nearby. Professional handlers and a supportive staff keep the day smooth, safe, and enjoyable.
A day that flows. Pre-dawn coffee, a short ride to the blinds, birds working over tidy spreads, then a hearty brunch and choices—nap, clays, hogs, whitetail or fishing—before the evening wind-down by the fire.
Activities
There’s plenty to enjoy between hunts and bites. Challenge each other on the clays course, take a swim, enjoy the Game Room, wander the gardens with a coffee, or join a guided wildlife drive to learn how wetland stewardship shapes the migration. Sunrise and dusk are wonderful for photography and birding. For hosted groups, the layout works beautifully for casual breakouts and unhurried conversations—productive time by day, meaningful connection by night.
