With eight bedrooms and five bathrooms, there’s plenty of space for larger groups to spread out without ever feeling crowded. Private rooms, a utility room with washer and dryer, and well-thought-out shared spaces make this lodge both functional and welcoming.

There’s no shortage of things to do between hunts. Inside, you’ll find a game room with ping pong, and an upstairs theater room with leather couches, bean bag chairs, and a large-screen TV for movies or game day. Outside, enjoy the water tank-style pool, a sports court with basketball, and a fire pit—perfect for swapping stories and enjoying the cool Texas evenings.

The two well-stocked fishing ponds offer rods, gear, paddle boats, and kayaks, providing plenty of fun for kids and adults alike. Whether you’re hunting or tagging along as an observer, this lodge offers a place to unwind and create lasting memories.

Dining

All meals are included and served with classic Texas flair—think hearty, home-cooked favorites that bring everyone to the table. It’s the perfect way to round out a great day outdoors.

Fishing

This property includes two well-stocked fishing ponds, perfect for a relaxing break between hunts. Whether you’re spending quiet time with a family member or letting the kids cast a line in the afternoon, the fishing here adds an extra layer of fun to your stay. All rods and gear are provided, so there’s no need to bring anything—just step out, enjoy the fresh air, and make a few more memories outdoors.

This ranch offers a stand-out experience for both hunters and observers, combining traditional Texas whitetail hunts with world-class exotic game and abundant feral hogs. Whether you’re here for your first axis buck or a trophy whitetail scoring over 300 SCI, this destination delivers a rewarding and memorable adventure.

Hunts take place across 2,000 acres of prime Texas terrain—1,600 acres of managed high-fence property and 400 acres of rugged free-range country. The landscape is varied and scenic, providing the right mix of challenge and opportunity.

Thanks to the ranch’s special MLD permits, hunters enjoy extended and even year-round opportunities for both whitetail and exotics. While most seasons in Texas are winding down, this ranch keeps going, allowing you to plan your hunt when it works best for you.

Hunting Options

• Whitetail Deer Hunts: These are typically conducted from blinds over feeders and managed under a thoughtful program focused on growing large, healthy bucks. Classes range from 120″ to 300″ SCI and beyond.

• Exotics: Spot-and-stalk hunting is the name of the game here, with plenty of glassing and boots-on-the-ground action. Trophy potential is excellent, and the variety of species keeps every day exciting.

• Feral Hogs: One hog is included with each hunt—a fun bonus and an authentic Texas experience.

Best Hunting Windows

• Axis: Late May through early June (huntable spring to fall)

• Aoudad: Best in September, February, or March

Every hunt is guided, fair chase, and conducted with ethical harvesting practices. The team provides quartering and caping services to prepare your animal for transport or taxidermy, so you can focus on the experience.

Length of Stay / Itinerary

The typical hunting itinerary is 4 days / 3 nights and includes six semi-guided hunts.

• Day 1: Arrive after lunch and settle in before heading out for an afternoon hunt

• Day 2–3: Enjoy both morning and afternoon hunts each day

• Day 4: Wrap up with a final morning hunt before departing around midday

This schedule provides plenty of time to enjoy the lodge, connect with your group, and make the most of your hunting experience in the Texas Hill Country.

Travel Details & Location

Getting to the ranch is simple and stress-free. It’s located just 10–15 minutes south of I-10 near Mountain Home, Texas—easy to reach, yet far enough off the beaten path to feel like a true getaway. The drive from San Antonio International Airport (SAT) takes approximately 1.5 hours, making it an ideal destination for families, couples, or groups flying in from out of state.

Internet & Communications

About 80% of the ranch has reliable cell phone coverage, so staying in touch while on-site is easy for most guests. The lodge is also equipped with Wi-Fi, allowing you to check emails or connect as needed—though many guests enjoy the chance to unplug and fully enjoy the experience.

Family Expeditions, LLC confirmation and refund policy:

If your trip is more than 90 days out from date of departure, a 50% non-refundable deposit confirms your reservation and must be received within 10 days of booking to confirm your dates. All trips must be paid in full at least 90 days prior to the departure date. If your trip date is within 90 days, FULL payment for the trip is required. All payments to Family Expeditions are non-refundable. Should you need to reschedule or cancel your trip, we will do everything in our power to assist you in finding a suitable substitute or transferring your dates per the lodge/providers/government requirements. Trip insurance protects your investment!
