Argentina Private Dove Hunting — An Exclusive-Use Estancia for Groups of 4 to 8
Argentina private dove hunting, the way a small group imagines it: one estancia, your group of 4 to 8 hunters, and no one else on the property. Córdoba’s large dove lodges are a great experience for many groups — but if you’ve ever wished the whole place belonged to your party, this is the only lodge we represent in dove country that works exactly that way. You book the estancia exclusively, the owners host your evenings, and the bird hunting outside the door is some of the highest-volume shooting on earth.
The setting is northern Córdoba’s rolling countryside, where grain crops and dense hillside roosting cover sustain an estimated 40 million eared doves that never migrate and reproduce up to four times a year. The birds are here in every month of the calendar, and most hunts are 5 to 15 minutes from the front door.
The estancia itself is a classic Argentine country house with five en-suite bedrooms, a fireplace sitting room, a covered patio, and a pool for the warm months. Chef-prepared meals, an open bar, and owners who host your group every night make this feel less like a lodge and less like a hotel — it feels like the house your group took over for the week.
Whether it’s family, friends, or a corporate group, we arrange everything — transfers, licenses, gun rentals, lodging, and the hunt itself. Contact us, and we handle the details.
If you’re comparing experiences, we also arrange a high-volume dove hunting lodge in Córdoba built for larger parties, and a 5-star lodge experience in the same dove country.
Accommodations & Meals
Minimum of 4 Shooters / Max of 8
The estancia sits in the rolling countryside of northern Córdoba, about 50 miles north of the Córdoba airport. It is a cozy, classic Argentine country house with five en-suite bedrooms. The comfortable sitting room has a small fireplace — where the day’s shots get replayed and generously exaggerated — plus a covered patio outside and a swimming pool for the warmer months. Wi-Fi is available throughout, and the TV works off your own streaming accounts if anyone needs a night off.
Meals are chef-prepared, and the staff is the heart of the place. And the owners host your group in person each evening — they’re a lot of fun, and they’re the reason so many groups rebook the same week year after year. It takes a minimum of 4 shooters to book the estancia, and the maximum is 8.
Hunting
Córdoba has become synonymous with high-volume dove hunting for a simple reason: the region’s climate lets grain crops — corn, sorghum, wheat, peanuts — flourish most of the year, and that
enormous food supply sits against dense hillside roosting cover. The result is an eared dove population estimated at over 40 million birds that never migrate and reproduce up to four times annually. The hunting is year-round.
When the first stream of doves crosses the ridge and keeps crossing for the next four hours without a gap, you’ll understand why people come back year after year for this!
How the season shapes the shooting. From March to July, most hunting happens in and around the crop fields — similar to dove hunting in the States — starting around daybreak. From July through February, the shooting moves to the hills, starting 8–9 AM, where you can pick your shots: stay low on the hill for high passing birds, or climb to the top and have them on top of you. If there’s a prime time, it’s August and September — mild weather plus the shot variety of the hills.
On a typical day, hunters fire 1,000 to 2,000 shells or more, depending on conditions and personal inclination. Some shoot much more. Hunts are usually 5–15 minutes from the estancia; the longest drives are 45 minutes and very rare.
Pigeon add-on. Your group can add a pigeon hunt about 1.5–2 hours from the lodge for an additional $200 per hunter per day. The lodge pre-scouts these shoots and only takes you when they’re confident in the location — pigeon shoots come together about half the time, and if not, you enjoy a full day of dove shooting instead.
A Day in the Field
Breakfast is served around 8 AM, then you head to the fields. Shoot until around noon, when you’re treated to an incredible barbecue lunch served on a white linen-covered table — Argentina’s wonderful beef and superb wine, in the middle of the dove fields. Take a siesta, resume shooting around 2–2:30, and go until almost dark. Then back to the estancia for cocktails and dinner with your hosts.
Activities
Non-hunters and anyone taking a day off have more to do here than at most dove lodges:
- Polo matches in Córdoba, based on the tournament schedule
- Golf at Ascochinga Golf Club — 18 holes, a 40-minute drive
- Horseback riding on the property, or ride into town with a guide
- The 450-year-old Jesuit mission and the area’s other historical sites
- Massage — a professional massage therapist is available for sore shoulders (or just because)
- Shopping in Córdoba — silver, leather, and fine handmade goods
- Two vineyards about 30 minutes from the lodge, with tours available when booked in advance
If you’d like to spend some time in Buenos Aires, the Mendoza wine country, Iguazú Falls, or Patagonia around your hunt, we happily arrange private touring with our own guide and his team.
Length of Stay / Itinerary
The trip can be as long or short as you wish — it normally begins with an afternoon hunt on arrival day and finishes with a morning hunt on departure day. Most groups choose 2 to 3 full days: a 3-night/4-day hunt includes 6 shoots, and a 4-night/5-day hunt includes 8. Longer trips are easy to build, and every itinerary is customized.
Travel Details & Location
Fly into Buenos Aires, overnight, and take a morning domestic flight to Córdoba the next day — the estancia is about 50 miles north of the Córdoba airport, and the lodge handles your airport pickup and gun-clearing assistance. On departure, book your flight back to Buenos Aires for mid-afternoon at the earliest, so your group can hunt the final morning in a prime spot.
If you’re extending to Buenos Aires, we recommend going before the hunt rather than after.
Internet & Communications
Wifi is available on site. TV is based on using your own accounts such as Youtube etc.

FAQ
What does exclusive use mean at this estancia?
Your group of 4 to 8 hunters books the entire property — five bedrooms, the sitting room, the patio, the pool, and the staff. No other guests share the house during your stay. A minimum of 4 shooters is required.
When is dove season in Córdoba?
There is no closed season. The doves are non-migratory and reproduce up to four times a year, so hunting is excellent year-round. August and September combine the mildest weather with the varied shooting of the hill season.
How many shells will we shoot?
Most hunters fire 1,000 to 2,000 shells a day, and some shoot more. Hunts are usually 5–15 minutes from the estancia, so there’s no lost time between sessions.
Can we add pigeon hunting?
Yes — a pigeon shoot can be added for $200 per hunter per day. The lodge pre-scouts and only runs the hunt when they’re confident in the location; it comes together about half the time, and otherwise you shoot doves all day.
Do we need to bring our own guns?
No. Gun rental is included — Benelli and Beretta semi-automatics and over/unders in 12, 20, and 28 gauge. If you bring your own, you’ll register it with US Customs on Form 4457 before departure; details are in the pre-trip planner.
What can non-hunters do?
Plenty: polo matches, golf at Ascochinga, horseback riding, the 450-year-old Jesuit mission, massage, vineyard tours, and shopping in Córdoba. Non-shooters stay at a reduced rate.
How do we get to the lodge?
Fly into Buenos Aires, overnight, then take a morning domestic flight to Córdoba. The lodge is about 50 miles north of the airport with pickup and gun-clearing assistance included.
How far in advance should we book?
For August and September — the prime weeks — we recommend booking 6–12 months out. Exclusive-use weeks go first, and corporate groups tend to rebook the same dates annually.
