Spain Wingshooting and Touring
Spain is a wonderful destination for travelers who want more than a few days in the field. The driven partridge shooting brings the tradition, excitement, and elegance of a classic European sporting holiday, while the touring side adds Madrid, historic towns, cathedrals, shopping, wine, regional food, and time in the Spanish countryside.
For non-shooting guests, the trip is a true Spain vacation. While shooters are in the field, spouses, family members, and observers can enjoy privately guided sightseeing, charming villages, local culture, wine tours, or a slower day at the estate before everyone gathers again for lunch or dinner. The lodge has dedicated private guides for those that do not wish to hunt.
Family Expeditions helps bring the full experience together, balancing shoot days with touring, meals, transfers, and downtime so the trip feels rewarding for both shooters and non-shooters.
Hunting
Spain Driven Partridge Experience
A Spanish driven red-legged partridge shoot is one of the classic wingshooting experiences in Europe. This owner-operated luxury hunting company is the oldest single-owner outfitting company in Spain, established in 1975, and the experience reflects decades of tradition, hospitality, and attention to detail.
Red-legged partridge hunting has long been part of Spanish sporting culture. The birds are known for their speed, agility, and ability to follow the terrain, often darting, diving, and changing direction as they come through the drive.
What the Shooting Looks Like
Driven partridge shoots are typically organized for groups of 6 to 8 shooters, with a classic program of three shooting days and four nights. The average three-day bag is around 1,800 birds across the whole line.
Guests typically enjoy four drives per day. Each shooter has a loader and a “secretario” who carries the guns and shells in the field. Two guns of the same gauge are strongly recommended, as birds often come in flocks and the pace can be fast.
This is an ideal trip for experienced bird hunters who want a true European driven shoot with luxury lodging, excellent service, and a strong sense of tradition.
Activities
Touring Highlights That Pair Perfectly with Your Shoot:
Madrid
Most guests fly into Madrid, making it a natural place to begin or end the trip. Spend a night or two enjoying the city’s restaurants, architecture, plazas, shopping, museums, and lively Spanish atmosphere before transferring to the countryside.
Historic Towns & Cathedrals
One of the best parts of this Spain experience is the ability to pair shooting with touring in nearby towns, cathedrals, and lesser-known places that most travelers would never find on their own.
Spanish Countryside
The drive from Madrid into the countryside is part of the charm. Rolling landscapes, rural estates, and traditional Spanish settings give the trip a strong sense of place before you ever step into the field.
Food & Wine
Spain’s food and wine are a major part of the experience. From hearty breakfasts to lunches on the hunting property and relaxed dinners at the estate, meals give everyone a chance to gather, slow down, and enjoy the culture together.
Shopping & Sightseeing
For observers and non-shooting guests, guided touring can be arranged during the shoot. This allows spouses, friends, or family members to enjoy shopping, sightseeing, local towns, and cultural stops while the shooters are in the field.
Wine Tours
Spain is a beautiful destination for wine lovers, and wine touring can be built into the itinerary before or after the shoot depending on your group’s interests and timing.
Length of Stay / Itinerary
Every Spain wingshooting and touring itinerary can be customized around your group’s pace, touring interests, and travel schedule. The classic driven partridge program is three shooting days and four nights, though shorter stays may be available.
