Since 1950, hunters have enjoyed unparalleled experiences both in and out of the field. It has always been their goal to make the time spent at their lodges and hunting castles as memorable as the hunting itself. The caring and charismatic staff is famous for providing world-class service and personal attention.

At all hunting estates, guests are treated to gourmet European and international cuisine and fine wines. They have a number of luxurious hunting castles, boutique hunting estates and cabin outposts throughout Hungary. Each place is special and unique with easy access to the best hunting in Hungary. Some of the lodging options are best suited for corporate entertaining and large hunting parties while others are better for romantic couples’ trips and smaller hunting parties.

Hunting

Driven pheasant shooting and duck hunting in Hungary have a long and rich history, but until the mid-20th Century it was generally reserved for Europe’s royalty and aristocracy. In the 1950’s, legendary Austrian hunter and adventurer Johannes began organizing exclusive driven pheasant shooting trips for select groups of privileged international sportsmen.

Today, with the help of his family and a staff of dedicated professionals, the hunting empire has grown to span all of Europe with a special emphasis on hunting in Hungary, Slovakia & the Czech Republic. Simply put, there are no other outfitters in Europe that can match the experience and hunting quality offered.

Driven Pheasant Shooting: October 15 – January 31

Europe, widely regarded as the “ultimate bird hunting experience,” driven pheasant shooting tests the skills of even the most dedicated shotgunners. Complementing the intrinsic challenge, driven pheasant shooting is also incredibly rewarding and intensely exhilarating. For more than 60 years, they have managed and orchestrated Hungary’s most revered pheasant shooting estates.

With this program they offer their 5 best driven pheasant estates for tall birds, located in the rolling hills north-east of Budapest. In these estates they are able to present the most challenging and tallest birds throughout whole Hungary. (The quality of these shoots far beyond to the pheasant estates in East and West Hungary in the flatland.) Distance from the mentioned chateau and castles to these top shoots in average just 20-30 miles, so comfortably reachable with our deluxe coach or individually with their deluxe Range Rovers and hunting Land Rovers.

The minimum daily bags they offer in these top estates are 350 birds. Each hunting group may individually choose and name their requested daily bags on time of booking. On average shooting days they count around 500 birds on game parade. Most international groups expect daily bags between 600 and 800 birds. We are able to offer in our top estates even shoots with far beyond 1,000 birds per day, if requested (you name the target – we organize).

Sample Schedule:
The basic program is a 4 days package with 3 nights at the chateau and 2 driven shooting days. Most overseas clients choose the 5 day package with 4 nights and 3 shooting days, mostly with a resting day in between.

We are able to offer great flighted ducks in combination (morning or evening/before or after pheasant shoot), as well as a half day or day walked-up pheasants over dogs. Also sightseeing for a day and/or for example the last.

Upland Hunting:

Combine Driven Pheasant, Upland Pheasant, Flighted Duck, Wild Boar, Mufflon, Red Stag, Roe Deer & Fallow Deer for a very unique sporting experience!

Ducks: August 15 – December 31
The flighted duck hunting in Hungary is perhaps the best in all of Europe. High-flying mallards reach speeds in excess of 70 kilometers per hour and offer an entirely unique shooting experience. Adding flighted duck to your hunting program is easy and can be done from a number of castles.

Budapest hotels can range wildly in quality and convenience.  We normally house our hunters in either the Gresham Palace Four Seasons on the banks of the Danube on the Pest side or the Conrad Hilton in the Buda Castle District.  However, we can coordinate your hotel stays based on your group dynamics and specific interests.

Budapest is famous for its great regional and international cuisine.  From open markets to casual bar fare to fine dining, Budapest has it all.  Many  hunting programs begin with a “welcome lunch” at one of Budapest’s many gourmet restaurants.

Sometimes, exploring a country’s small towns, villages and nature preserves is the best way to get in touch with the pulse of the place…Hungary is no different.  There are intriguing destinations both near and far from Budapest that can dramatically add to your overall experience in Hungary.

One of the great things about hunting in Hungary is that it is easy to reach many of Europe’s top tourism destinations in the same trip.  Budapest is one of the continent’s most revered capital cities, but it is also just a short drive to Vienna, Bratislava, Prague and other great cities.

Most guests fly into Vienna, Austria where you will be greeted by your guide to begin your adventure!

Trip Insurance & Cancellation Info

Trip insurance is highly recommended to protect your investment on this trip. We will assist you with trip insurance upon booking. See links at the bottom of this page for the two providers we suggest for our clients.

Family Expeditions, LLC confirmation and refund policy:

If your trip is more than 90 days out from date of departure, a 50% non-refundable deposit confirms your reservation and must be received within 10 days of booking to confirm your dates. All trips must be paid in full at least 90 days prior to the departure date. If your trip date is within 90 days, FULL payment for the trip is required. All payments to Family Expeditions are non-refundable. Should you need to reschedule or cancel your trip, we will do everything in our power to assist you in finding a suitable substitute or transferring your dates per the lodge/providers/government requirements. Trip insurance protects your investment!
